General tax incentives:

Companies are eligible for a deduction from the taxable income in respect of profits re-invested for business expansion. Companies may re-invest profits in specific tangible assets such as immovable property, plant and equipment or in intangible assets such as computer software and patents. Investments made in assets for administrative purposes such as passenger cars, furniture, carpets, audio-visual devices, appliances, pieces of fine and applied art, etc. are not eligible for the relief. The assets so acquired cannot be sold for the period of 5 years from the year of investment and non-fulfilment attracts payment of tax, for which relief was granted.
Companies that are required to use a fiscal equipment for registering cash payments are eligible for a reduction in its corporate tax liability of the purchase cost of electronic cash registers, limited to ten. However, an approval from the tax authorities is required for availing the incentive

Technological Industrial Development Zones (‘TIDZ’)

There are four major free trade zone, known as TIDZ, in Macedonia. TIDZ is a specified part of the customs territory of Macedonia, separated from the remaining part of the customs area, separately fenced and marked area representing a functional entity in which activities are performed in accordance with the prescribed laws. A registered investor is eligible for following incentives for investing in the TIDZ:

Corporate tax exemption for a period of 10 years from the date of commencement of business activities
Exemption from the payment of personal income tax on employees’ salary for a period of 10 years, provided there is no reduction in the number of employees after the commencement of business activity
Exemption from VAT on import and trading of goods within TIDZ
Exemption from payment of customs duties on import of equipment, machines and spare parts
Land in the TIDZ is available to investors under long-term lease for a period of up to 99 years at concessional rates
Investors are exempt from paying utility taxes to the local municipality and fees for land building permits
Free connection of natural gas, water and sewage network
Investors are also exempt from paying a fee for preparation of the construction site
