The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has published updated guidance on penalty units. This includes an update in the indexed amount of the penalty unit, which is increased from AUD 275 to AUD 313 for infringements that occur on or after 1 July 2023. The AUD 275 penalty unit amount is effective for infringements that occurred from 1 January 2023 to 30 June 2023 (increased from AUD 222).
