On 7 July 2020, Austria published in the Official Gazette the law providing a temporary VAT rate of 5% for the serving of meals and beverages, publications, including books, newspapers, etc., and certain other supplies. The 5% rate applies for sales carried out after 30 June 2020 and before 1 January 2021 (i.e., from 1 July to 31 December 2020).
