On 9 September 2020, the Austrian Council of Ministers approved the new income and capital tax treaty with Argentina. The treaty, signed 6 December 2019 ({News-2020-01-10/T/2-previous coverage}), will enter into force once the ratification instruments are exchanged and will apply from 1 January of the year following its entry into force. A prior treaty between the two countries was signed in 1979 and was terminated with effect from 1 January 2009.
