On 9 March 2025, the Foreign Affairs, Defense, and National Security Committee of Bahrain's Consultative (Shura) Council (upper house of the National Assembly) approved the pending income tax treaty with Guernsey. The treaty, signed 29 September 2024, is the first of its kind between the two jurisdictions. It will enter into force 30 days after the ratification instruments are exchanged and will apply from 1 January of the year following its entry into force.
