According to a release from the Bangladesh Ministry of Foreign Affairs, officials from Bangladesh and Sri Lanka met on 6 September 2019 to discuss various areas of bilateral cooperation, including the need to sign a new income tax treaty. The treaty must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force and, once in force and effective, will replace the 1986 tax treaty between the two countries.
