On 27 November 2024, Brazil's Chamber of Deputies (lower house of the National Congress) approved the ratification of the new income tax treaty with Norway. The treaty, signed 4 November 2022, will enter into force once the ratification instruments are exchanged and will apply from 1 January of the year following its entry into force. Once in force and effective, the new treaty will replace the 1980 tax treaty between the two countries.
