According to a release from the Vietnamese government, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính met with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on 5 July 2025 to discuss bilateral relations and agreed to continue promoting negotiations for an income tax treaty. Negotiations for a treaty began in 2015. Any resulting treaty will be the first of its kind between the two countries and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
