On 9 August 2023, Brazil's Senate (upper chamber of the National Congress) approved the ratification of the pending social security agreement with India. The agreement, signed 25 January 2020, is the first of its kind between the two countries and will enter into force on the first day of the third month after the ratification instruments are exchanged.
