On 21 February 2024, Bulgaria's National Assembly (parliament) approved the pending social security agreement with Albania. The agreement was signed by Albania on 15 March 2023 and by Bulgaria on 30 March 2023. It will enter into force on the first day of the third month after the ratification instruments are exchanged and, once in force and effective, will replace the 1952 agreement between the two countries.
