Canada's Department of Finance announced on 15 May 2020 that the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) to help businesses retain employees during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has been extended by an additional 12 weeks to 29 August 2020. The CEWS originally applied for eligible remuneration paid for the period between 15 March and 6 June 2020. The scope of employers eligible for the CEWS is also extended.
