According to a release from China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, officials from China and Peru met on 12 May 2025 to discuss bilateral cooperation, including China's commitment to the negotiation and signing of an income tax treaty. The two sides last met for tax treaty negotiations in November 2024. Any resulting treaty would be the first of its kind between the two countries and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
