With effect from 1 January 2024, Cyprus has reduced the rate of the Special Contribution for Defence on interest from 30% to 17%. The contribution rate applies on interest received or credited by every person including individuals and companies. The contribution rate was reportedly reduced by Law N.157(I)/2023, which was published in the Official Gazette on 20 December 2023.
