Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that negotiations for a new income tax treaty with the Czech Republic commenced on 16 June 2025. Any resulting treaty must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force and, once in force and effective, will replace the 1977 tax treaty between Japan and the former Czechoslovakia as it applies in respect of the Czech Republic and Japan.
