On 21 December 2017, officials from Djibouti and Saudi Arabia met to discuss bilateral relations and agreed to begin negotiations for an income tax treaty in the coming months. Any resulting treaty would be the first of its kind between the two countries, and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
