On 21 March 2019, EU leaders agreed to extend the UK's exit from the EU, but not the 30 June 2019 extension requested by UK Prime Minister Theresa May. The extension agreed to provides that if May's exit deal is approved next week, the UK would leave the EU on 22 May 2019. Otherwise, the UK would leave the EU on 12 April 2019 with no deal unless an alternative plan is provided by that date.
