On 18 November 2019, the Ecuador President Lenín Moreno signed Executive Decree No. 930, which provides for the ratification of the pending income tax treaty with Japan. The treaty, signed 15 January 2019 ({News-2019-01-18/T/2-previous coverage}), is the first of its kind between the two countries and will enter into force 30 days after the ratification instruments are exchanged and will generally apply from 1 January of the year following its entry into force.
