According to a release from Panama's government, officials from Ecuador and Panama met on 29 June 2025 to discuss bilateral cooperation on trade and tax evasion, including the possibility of negotiating an income tax treaty. Any resulting treaty would be the first of its kind between the two countries and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
