According to a release from Latvia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, officials from Latvia and Ethiopia met during a working visit from 21 to 24 January 2020, during which Ethiopian officials said the country was prepared to sign an income tax treaty with Latvia as soon as possible. The treaty would be the first of its kind between the two countries and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
