European Commission Clears Ireland's Sugar-Sweetened Drinks Tax

The European Commission has announced that it has found no State aid issues with Ireland's new tax on sugar-sweetened drinks. The tax was introduced as part of the Finance Act 2017 and was to apply from 6 April 2018, but was delayed to 1 May 2018 pending the result of the European Commission's review.
