On 11 December 2018, the European Commission announced the presentation of proposed value added tax (VAT) measures, including VAT collection obligations for online marketplaces in relation to sales by non-EU companies. The Commission is calling for a quick agreement on the measures in 2019 so they may be implemented from 1 January 2021.
