India’s Lok Sabha (the lower house of Parliament) on Friday 24 March 2023 passed the Finance Bill 2023 into law with a total of 64 deviations from the original draft submitted by the government on 1 February 2023. The amended bill was later passed by the upper house on 27 March 2023 and is now awaiting presidential assent. Once enacted, the amendments will apply effective 1 April 2023.
