On 4 October 2017, the French National Assembly (lower house of parliament) approved the law for the ratification of the pending protocol to the 1971 income tax treaty with Portugal. The protocol, signed 25 August 2016, is the first to amend the treaty and will enter into force on the first day of the month following the exchange of the ratification instruments ({News-2017-03-08/T/3-previous coverage}).
