On 25 November 2022, the German Federal Council (upper house of parliament - Bundesrat) gave final approval for the maximum annual income basis for social security contributions for 2023. For pension and unemployment insurance, the maximum basis is:
- EUR 87,600 for Western Federal States (old States); and
- EUR 85,200 for Eastern Federal States (new States).
For health insurance and nursing insurance for disability and old age, the maximum annual basis is EUR 59,850 for all Federal States.
