On 3 November 2017, the German Federal Council (upper house of parliament - Bundesrat) approved the maximum annual income basis for social security contributions for 2018. The maximum annual income basis amounts are unchanged from those approved by the Federal Cabinet in September ({News-2017-10-06/A/3-previous coverage}) and are effective from 1 January 2018.
