The German Federal and State government reportedly agreed on 20 January 2021 to allow a full current-year deduction for expenses incurred for the acquisition of computer hardware and software, including laptops, printers, scanners, monitors, etc. The full current-year deduction is provided instead of the standard requirements to depreciate such assets (generally over three years). The allowed full deduction does not need further approval and applies retroactively from 1 January 2021.
