The German Federal Government has published a joint statement following the 6th German-Indian Inter-Governmental Consultations held on 2 May 2022 in Berlin. With respect to taxation, the statement provides that Germany and India are committed to quickly completing negotiations for an amending protocol to the 1995 income and capital tax treaty between the two countries. The protocol will be the first to amend the treaty and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
