According to a release from Serbia's Ministry of Finance, officials from Germany and Serbia concluded negotiations with the initialing of an income tax treaty on 27 June 2025. The treaty must be signed and ratified before entering into force and, once in force and effective, will replace the 1987 tax treaty between Germany and the former Yugoslavia as it applies with respect to Germany and Serbia.
