Greece Considering Flat VAT Rate

According to recent reports, Greece is considering the introduction of a flat VAT rate of 20%. The flat rate would replace the current standard VAT rate of 23%, and the reduced rates of 13% and 6.5%.

Given Greece's bailout, any change would have to be approved by the Troika (European Commission, European Central Bank, International Monetary Fund), and would likely need to be offset by matching tax increases or spending cuts.
