On 24 April 2019, the Guernsey Government announced that it has received entrustment from the UK to negotiate a reciprocal social security agreement with the Government of the Republic of Latvia. Any resulting agreement would be the first of its kind between the two jurisdictions, and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
