On 3 November 2021, officials from Guinea-Bissau and Saudi Arabia reportedly met to discuss bilateral relations, including the interest of both sides in negotiating and signing an income tax treaty. Any resulting treaty would be the first of its kind between the two countries and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
