The Hungarian Government has announced that it is open to drafting a new tax treaty with the United States. Hungary was notified of the termination of the 1979 tax treaty between the two counties on 8 July 2022, which will be effective from 1 January 2024. The two side had signed a new tax treaty in 2010, but it was not ratified.
