The task force established by India's Ministry of Finance to review the existing Income-tax Act, 1961 and to draft a new direct tax law has issued a questionnaire seeking suggestions and feedback from stakeholders and the general public. The questionnaire concerns individual income tax returns, tax deducted at source, processing and scrutiny of returns, litigation and recovery of disputed tax demand, and penalties and prosecution.
