On 11 September 2018, officials from India and Panama met to discuss the need to finalize negotiations for a tax information exchange agreement as soon as possible. Negotiations for an agreement first began in 2016. Any resulting agreement will be the first of its kind between the two countries, and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
