Indonesia Considering VAT on Online Sales of Goods to Consumers

The Indonesian government is currently considering applying the countries standard rate of VAT (10%) to the online sales of goods to consumers, which is currently exempt from VAT. The standard VAT registration threshold of IRD 4.8 billion (~USD 408,000) would apply for domestic online retailers, while non-residents would remain exempt.
