On 29 November 2018, the Japanese Diet (parliament) approved the law for the ratification of the pending social security agreement with China. The agreement, signed 9 May 2018, is the first of its kind between the two countries and will enter into force on the first day of the fourth month following the month the ratification instruments are exchanged.
