Japan's Ministry of Finance announced on 21 February 2018 that Japan has agreed in principle on a new income tax treaty with Spain that will replace the 1974 tax treaty between the two countries. The treaty will be signed after the necessary internal procedures have been completed by the two countries and will enter into force after the ratification instruments are exchanged. Details of the treaty will be published once available.
