According to a release from the Government of Monaco, officials from Japan and Monaco met on 25 June 2025 to discuss global affairs and bilateral relations, including the income tax currently under discussion. Any resulting treaty would be the first of its kind between the two countries and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
