Japan and Russia to Sign New Tax Treaty in September 2017

According to recent comments from Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Oreshkin, officials from Japan and Russia are expected to sign a new income tax treaty in September 2017. Negotiations for the new treaty were concluded in April 2017, and once in force and effective, the treaty will replace the 1986 tax treaty between Japan and the former Soviet Union as it applies in respect of Japan and Russia.
