Kazakhstan's parliament has reportedly approved changes to the new fee for digital mining of cryptocurrencies. Introduced from 1 January 2022 at a single rate of KZT 1 per KWh of electricity use in digital mining activities, the fee is being changed to progressive rates as follows based on the average electricity price per KWh:
- KZT 5-10 per KWh price - KZT 10 per KWh fee
- KZT 10-15 per KWh price - KZT 7 per KWh fee
