In order to protect the domestic labor market, the Kazakhstan government has reportedly introduced a new monthly tax on migrant workers. The tax is to be levied at a rate of four times the monthly calculation index (MCI) per worker per month. The MCI is currently equal to KZT 2,405 (~USD 6.9) and expected to be increased to 2,525 in 2019.
