Kazakhstan Senate Approves FATCA Agreement with the U.S.

On 10 February 2022, the Kazakhstan Senate (upper house of parliament) approved the Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) with the U.S. for the implementation of FATCA, which follows approval in the Mazhilis (lower house) on 12 January 2022. The IGA was signed on 11 September 2017, and although the ratification procedures are not complete, Kazakhstan is treated as having an IGA in effect with the U.S. from 30 November 2014.
