The Kenya Sugar Board has published a draft legal notice for public comment for the introduction of a new sugar development levy as provided for by the Sugar Act (Act No. 11 of 2024), which was published in November 2024. Under section 40 of the Act, it is provided that a levy not exceeding 4% is to be introduced on domestic and imported sugar.
