On 18 October 2018, the Kosovo Assembly (parliament) approved the pending social security agreement with Switzerland. The agreement, signed 8 June 2018, is the first of its kind directly between the two countries and will enter into force after the ratification instruments are exchanged. The 1962 agreement between Switzerland and the former Yugoslavia had applied in respect of Kosovo, but its application was terminated in 2010.
