According to a release from the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Edgars Rinkēvičs, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, Carlos Holmes Trujillo, on 24 September 2019 to discuss bilateral relations and cooperation, including Latvia's interest in signing an income tax treaty. Any such treaty would be the first of its kind between the two countries and must be negotiated, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
