On 2 September 2014, the Malawi Ministry of Finance presented draft budget 2014/2015 to parliament.
The draft budget includes a reduction in corporate tax on mobile phone operators from 33% to the standard rate of 30%. VAT exemption is provided for imports of raw materials for fertilizer and medicine production. VAT exemption is also provided for imported mini busses not older than 5 years, and excise and import duties are removed for such vehicles.
