The Malaysian government is reportedly planning to implement a new sales and services tax (SST) from September 2018 to replace the goods and services tax (GST) that was effectively abolished from 1 June 2018 through a reduction of the GST rate from 6% to 0% (previous coverage). The new SST will be similar to the prior SST, which GST replaced in 2015, and is expected to be levied at a rate of 10%.
