Malaysia's Finance Minister Johari Abdul Ghani announced during a conference held 9-10 August 2016 that the government is currently planning for the taxation of digital businesses conducted through online platforms such as Airbnb, Alibaba, Netflix, and Uber, which may include requiring such businesses to register in Malaysia.
