The Maldives government reportedly submitted a draft bill in parliament on 14 September 2022 to increase the current GST rates. This includes an increase in the standard rate from 6% to 8% and an increase in the rate on the supply of tourism goods and services from 12% to 14%. Subject to approval, the increase is to apply from 1 January 2023.
