According to a release from Moldova's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, officials from Japan and Moldova met on 12 November 2024 to discuss opportunities for investment, as well as Moldova's interest in finalizing negotiations for an income tax treaty. Any resulting treaty would be the first of its kind between the two countries and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
